El amor is a dictionary//compilation with all groups formed by roto el oso for over 15
years. All styles are represented: HIP HOP with the lo-fi gourmet MC PATATE, bisexual
songs with CHANTAL, noisy destructured blues by STEAK FROM DELTA and the bayou
folk style of LES FRÈRES D’EPINAY.
« Though I had heard a few mp3s of this band, when I first listened to the newest by
Oso el Roto, I was floored. I emailed friends saying, « Man, you gotta hear this band! They
play the best weird, fucked up country blues mutation I’ve heard in a long while! » And when
I found out that they were from Chile (now stationed in Paris), things clicked. Rather than
being some Euro freak Blues Explosion fans, these guys come from a rich tradition of
South American psychedelia/freak rock and the blues I hear is partially an assimilation of
Captain Beefheart. Ahhhh so these Oso el Rotos could be the legitimate heirs to the throne of
The Speakers! (well, much noisier & more punk). But the influences don’t end there: Also in
the mix is a dollop of Boredoms, a pinch of Blowhole, a bit of modern noisecore, and some
French absurdism. «
